Is This Practice Really 'Green' at Events/Seminars?

To all the 'green' experts -- got a quick question. At events/seminars you can now always see the majority of the audience on laptops and/or handheld devices blogging, tweeting...whatever. Can this phenomenon actually be 'green'? Has no one addressed this before because it might be 'an inconvenient truth'? What's the low-down on this practice -- is really 'green'?

The green truth is for sure to be called inconvenient especially to the presenter. Imagine if everyone sad in front of the speaker with a laptop, mobile phone and a headset. The message of the speaker would be lost. By using all these so called effective and in some people's mind essential equipment at a seminar the green purpose is nowhere to be found. All devices need power in order to function properly. When giving a presentation or seminar you want to look the people in the eyes and not staring at some notebook's logo. In short; it's rather rude than green. When I attend a seminar I always take a small block-note, a fine-liner and write down their keynotes because in most cases the video will be put on YouTube.

I look at it as an opportunity to spread the word on all the wonderful things some of these sustainable brands are doing. Hopefully, others who are new to sustainable initiatives will follow suit. I would suggest I am on your team, not the other way around. Thanks, Dustin
